What did I use? I used two flannels from Joann

I used batting only on the exterior pattern pieces and quilted them. This vest WAS so cute, she is keeping this one until she outgrows it. She got tons of compliments today and, again, it is a pattern that people are AMAZED that you can make. Okay, yeah, its got a zipper and it separates - but, listen, you will be ok. Amy's instructions are great. If you are brave enough to make the journey, I think you will wind up happily on the other side. If you are planning on quilting your layer/layer(s), it is not going to be one of your faster sews, but it can be done in a day if you get to it. Its definitely worth your time. You can't see it in the pics, but I did the in-seam pocket version. You know how we LOVE our pockets
So, here is our rendition of the Peek a Boo Patterns Great Outdoors Reversible Vest
I love it. It makes me want to upsize it to fit me! I hope you have all had a great day and we will see you back tomorrow for our favorite day- HUMP day!
Beautiful, and it really suits your daughter. I am tempted to purchase this pattern now too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! She loved it. I highly recommend this one and, really, all of Amys outerwear patterns. I have several and another one that will be popping up on here soon. They are really well written and the quality of the garment when you are finished is really like a high end store quality. And you can make it as light or bulky as you want by varying what fabrics and how much batting you use. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteThis really is cute. You are tempting me :) I bought the hooded shirt pattern last week. Im looking forward to sewing it up. Do you have a suggestion for a knit leggings pattern? My daughter (10) saw some cute knit with colorful sheep on it at Joann's and wants leggings. Ideas are appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI like the Jocole legging pattern http://www.jocole.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_15&products_id=48 or to be honest, sometimes I just trace a pair she has and make my own pattern. Trace the legging adding seam allowance and then add about 1-1.25" to the top (for your elastic casing) and .5" to the bottom (for your hem). You can also add a ruffle just by measuring your bottom edge, multiple by 2, cut that number for your width and whatever length you want. You can even do multiple ruffles. Thank you for stopping by and post a pic if you make some leggings! Would love to see that sheep fabric!
DeleteThanks! My daughter even suggested tracing some leggings she already has. I think thats what I'll do. Much quicker!!
DeleteLove it and love that it's orange!!
ReplyDeleteHee hee! Me too! :) I have said, I totally need to make this for me. I think I could make that happen.
